Integrating Personio with PULT via Kombo

With Kombo, you can connect Personio to PULT to sync employees, absences and other HR data automatically. This article shows you step by step how to set it up.
1. Create API access in Personio
Open Personio and go to Settings → Integrations → API Access Data.
Click Create Custom Integration in the top right.
Name the integration, e.g. PULT, and click Next.
2. Set the access rights
Permissions
Set the access rights as follows:

Readable employee attributes
Select these attributes:
First name, last name, preferred name
Email
Status, position, employment type
Hire date, contract ends, termination date
Last modified, created at
Cost center, department, team
Public holiday, weekly hours, work schedule, absence entitlement
Profile picture
Employee ID (Personalnummer)
Click Create Integration in the bottom right. Copy the Client ID and the API Secret Token – you need them in PULT.
3. Set up the integration in PULT
Open the Kombo integration in the PULT dashboard.
Enter the Client ID and the API Secret Token.
Start the sync. The first sync can take up to 10 minutes.
4. Map absences
After the sync, choose how each Personio absence type is shown in PULT.
📌 Home office in Personio: To sync home office days from PULT to Personio, create an absence type in Personio whose name contains “pult” (not case-sensitive), e.g. Pult - Home Office. Absence types without “pult” in their name are shown as not usable for this sync.
That’s it – the Personio integration via Kombo is now set up.
Frequently asked questions
Does PULT create users from Personio?
No. PULT syncs teams and absences. Employees who leave in Personio are archived in PULT.
Why does PULT need write access to absences?
So that home office days booked in PULT can be transferred to Personio.
