Personio Set up

With the Personio integration, PULT synchronises your employees and absences from Personio and transfers home office bookings from PULT back to Personio. This article shows admins how to set it up in three steps.

📌 Before you start: You need admin rights (or the appropriate permissions) in Personio and admin rights in PULT. If you need extended absence types or custom mappings, use the integration via Kombo instead (see Integrating Personio with PULT via Kombo).

1. Create API credentials in Personio

  1. In Personio, go to Settings → API credentials.

  2. Click Generate new credentials.

  3. Under Readable employee attributes, select these attributes: Absence entitlement, City, Created at, Department, Email, Employee ID, First name, Hire date, Last modified, Last name, Office, Position, Postcode, Profile Picture, Public holidays, Status, Supervisor, Team, Termination date, Vacation day balance, Weekly hours, Work schedule

  4. Click Generate new credentials again and store the Client ID and Client Secret in a secure place.

2. Create the PULT absence type in Personio

With this absence type, PULT can transfer home office bookings to Personio.

  1. In Personio, go to Settings → Absence.

  2. Enter Pult - Home Office in the field New type and click +.

  3. Open the new absence type, click Edit, adjust the settings to your needs and click Save changes.

3. Connect Personio in PULT

  1. In the PULT dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations → Personio.

  2. Click Add and enter the Client ID and Client Secret from step 1.

  3. Click Link Personio. PULT checks the credentials and permissions and starts the first synchronisation.

Which data is transferred?

From Personio to PULT: first name, last name, email, status, position, supervisor, weekly working hours, hire date, termination date, office, department, city, postcode, holiday calendar, absence entitlement, work schedule, vacation day balance, profile picture, team, created at / last modified at.

From PULT to Personio: home office bookings (as the absence type “Pult - Home Office”).

Frequently asked questions

Does the integration create new users in PULT?

No. Users are not created via Personio – users who have left the company are archived.

Linking fails with a permission error. What can I do?

Check in Personio that all readable employee attributes from step 1 are selected. Then generate new credentials and try again.

Can we sync other absence types, e.g. parental leave?

Yes, with the integration via Kombo. It supports extended absence types and custom mappings.
