Which permissions are required for the Slack integration?

Last updated: October 26, 2026

When you add the PULT app to Slack, Slack asks you to approve a set of permissions (scopes). This article lists all scopes the PULT app requests, so your IT team can review them before the installation.

User scopes

Used to read and update the Slack status of a user (status sync).

users.profile:read
users.profile:write

Bot scopes

Used by the PULT bot, e.g. to send reminders and notifications and to match Slack users with PULT users.

channels:read
chat:write
chat:write.public
im:history
im:write
team:read
usergroups:read
users:read
users:read.email

You find a description of every scope in the Slack documentation.

Frequently asked questions

Who has to approve the permissions?

A Slack admin (or a user who is allowed to install apps in your workspace) approves them once when adding the PULT app.

Why does PULT need to write to user profiles?

Only for the optional status sync: PULT sets the Slack status to the user’s current PULT booking, e.g. office or home office. If you don’t use the status sync, PULT doesn’t change the status.
