How do I set up my devices for badge printing?

This article shows how to connect your printer to the PULT Visitors Kiosk app on your iPad – via Bluetooth or WiFi. Printed visitor badges with a photo increase security and improve your visitors' experience.

📌 Kiosk app: Use the PULT Visitors Kiosk app on an iPad – only then are all kiosk features available. Always install the latest version (currently version 1.28, requires iPadOS 17.2 or later). The browser kiosk (e.g. on Android tablets) works too, but some features such as badge printing are not available there (see Use the PULT Kiosk in a Browser (Android and Other Tablets)).

📌 Only Brother QL-820NWB printers are supported. You can download the printer manual here and order the printer here. Badge printing is only possible with the iPad app, not with the browser kiosk (see Use the PULT Kiosk in a Browser (Android and Other Tablets)).

Connect via Bluetooth

1. Pair the printer with the iPad

Connect the printer to your iPad in the Bluetooth settings of the iPad. Once connected, it looks similar to this:

2. Open the kiosk settings

Open the PULT Visitors Kiosk app on your iPad and press and hold the PULT logo in the bottom right corner for 3 seconds.

3. Connect Printer

Tap Connect Printer. If a printer is already connected (as in this example), tap Connect Different Printer.

4. Bluetooth

Tap Bluetooth.

5. Next

Tap Next once the printer is connected via Bluetooth.

6. Select the printer

Tap Connect next to the printer you want to use.

That's it – your printer is connected and ready to use.

Connect via WiFi

7. Use the same WiFi network

Make sure that your iPad and the printer are connected to the same WiFi network.

8. Open the kiosk settings

Open the PULT Visitors Kiosk app on your iPad and press and hold the PULT logo in the bottom right corner for 3 seconds.

9. Connect Printer

Tap Connect Printer. If a printer is already connected (as in this example), tap Connect Different Printer.

10. WiFi

Tap WiFi.

11. Next

Tap Next once the printer is in the same WiFi network as the iPad.

12. Select the printer

Tap Connect next to the printer you want to use.

That's it – your printer is connected and ready to use.

Frequently asked questions

Can I print badges with the browser kiosk?

No. Badge printing is only possible with the PULT Visitors Kiosk app on an iPad (see Use the PULT Kiosk in a Browser (Android and Other Tablets)).

Which badge is printed?

The badge design assigned to the visitor's flow. Flows without a design print the standard badge (see Visitor Badge Editor: Design your own visitor badges).

Do visitors have to take a photo?

No. In the Badge Printing tab of each flow you choose Require a photo, Photo is optional or Don't capture a photo (see Visitor Badge Editor: Design your own visitor badges).
