Frontdesk Role: Visitor Management

Overview

Users with the Frontdesk (Visitor Manager) role now have a focused, visitor-only experience when they open the PULT web app. Instead of seeing the full employee view — including desk booking, parking, and presence — Frontdesk users land directly on the Guest Booking surface.

This change ensures that Frontdesk staff only see what they need, keeping the interface clean and aligned with data-minimization and works-council requirements. Employee-facing features are completely hidden from navigation and cannot be accessed, even by entering a direct URL.

What Changed

  • Default landing page: Frontdesk users now land on the Guest Booking page when they open the web app.

  • Hidden navigation items: Presence and other employee-only views are removed from the web app navigation for Frontdesk users.

    Desk booking and parking visibility are optional and can be configured in the dashboard under Settings → Company → Booking Settings

  • Route protection: If a Frontdesk user tries to navigate directly to a hidden page (e.g. via a bookmarked URL), they are automatically redirected back to Guest Booking.

Steps: How to Assign the Frontdesk Role

  1. Open the PULT Admin Dashboard.

  2. Go to People & TeamsManage Employees.

  3. Find the employee you want to assign the Frontdesk role to.

  4. Click on their profile and open the Role settings.

  5. Select Frontdesk (Visitor Manager) as their role.

  6. Save the changes.

The next time this user logs in to the PULT web app and in the dashboard, they will only see the Guest Booking surface.

Can a Frontdesk user still access the Admin Dashboard?

Yes. The Admin Dashboard was already scoped for Frontdesk users — they can access visitor management features there as well.

What happens if a Frontdesk user clicks a bookmarked link to desk booking?

They will be automatically redirected to the Guest Booking page. There is no error message — the redirect happens silently.

Can I give a user both Frontdesk and regular employee access?

Role assignment depends on your organization's setup. If a user needs access to both visitor management and desk booking, they may need a different role. Contact your PULT admin for guidance.

Does this affect the Kiosk app?

No. The Kiosk app is not affected by this change. This update only applies to the PULT web app and Admin Dashboard.
